On April 20th, Raquel Simancas and Prof. Teruoki Tago – representatives of LAURELIN project partners the University of Tokyo & Tokyo Institute of Technology (TITECH) – took part in the “Workshop on Horizon-Europe Opportunities in Japan” at the Delegation of the European Union’s Europa House.
This Workshopon Horizon-Europe Opportunities in Japan – organized by the Associations of European Researchers in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Japan – provided a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration between European and Japanese researchers. All this designed to explore the Horizon Europe program and focussing on previous experiences and potential ways for partnership between Europe and Japan.
Raquel Simancas and Prof. Teruoki Tago, representing both our Japanese LAURELIN partners – University of Tokyo & Tokyo Institute of Technology (TITECH) – actively participated in this high-level workshop. Raquel’s presentation, entitled “LAURELIN, an international cooperative project to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions,” highlighted the significance of the Laurelin project in tackling environmental challenges.
Through her presentation, Raquel briefly explained the importance of our project and the Japan-EU Joint Call, the key take-aways from the intense collaboration between European & Japanese partners and LAURELIN’s efforts towards the optimisation of green methanol production.
During the event, more than 50 participants engaged in networking opportunities, fostering connections and potential collaborations. Conversations ranged from sharing experiences in participating in Horizon Europe projects to exploring ways for future research collaboration between Japan and Europe. The workshop also featured interactive sessions, including panel discussions and round table conversations, where attendees exchanged ideas and perspectives on Horizon Europe opportunities.
Overall, the event provided a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing the importance of the EU-Japan nexus in addressing global challenges and advancing scientific innovation.
