LAURELIN’s research presented at the LCA of CCU products workshop organised by TCCA network

On 13 June 2024, Piya Gosalvitr from our LAURELIN project partner University of Manchester presented our EU-Japan funded project during an online workshop organised by the Thailand Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage Alliance (TCCA) network.

This four-day online workshop – organised by the Thailand Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage Alliance (further: TCCA) network and solely taught by Piya G. – was set up to enhance the capabilities of researchers within the TCCA network and focused on life cycle assessment (LCA) of CO₂ utilization (CCU) products. In addition, the workshop provided some basic knowledge of LCA, carbon capture technologies, and CCU technologies such as:

• CO₂ hydrogenation to methanol
• CO₂ hydrogenation to olefin
• CO₂ mineralization to produce building materials
• Photocatalytic conversion of CO2 to syngas

The workshop also shed light on how to conduct LCA of CCU with some key examples from Thailand and Europe, including the LAURELIN project which was presented by our project partner. During his presentation, Piya G. showcased the LAURELIN’s research on conversion of CO₂ via hydrogenation into methanol.

The workshop’s audience – a total of 460 participants from Thailand and Vietnam – represented several sectors such as universities, governmental bodies, industry, research institutions, and others. This multi-stakeholder audience gave a near-perfect evaluation of 99.17% for our project partner Piya’s workshop. Congratulations for this great presentation!!!
