Earlier this month, the LAURELIN consortium partner Aliénor – in charge of communication, dissemination & exploitation – attended the high-level event inside the European Parliament (Brussels) on the subject of decarbonisation of maritime transport. This event was organised by the European Parliament’s Intergroup SEArica and chaired by French Member of the European Parliament, Christophe Clergeau.
The event’s key question was: “How can Europe take the lead in making maritime transport carbon-neutral, and what mix of solutions (wind propulsion to e-fuels) is needed to ensure an efficient and ambitious path toward carbon neutrality by 2050?”
With the adoption of key legislative instruments, the EU has laid down the foundation for a major transformation of the maritime sector. These legislative instruments include among others:
LAURELIN members were pleased with the emphasis laid down on research, innovation & development during this event 🔬 . We look forward seeing more initiatives like this at EU level to further steer the maritime transport sector towards carbon neutrality. The LAURELIN project is more than open to give its perspectives on the role of e-fuels and share the results of its 4-year research project.
